In Armenia, Gyumri Mayor's son charged with disorderly conduct and illegal firearm possession

Spartak Gukasyan, a son of the Mayor of the city of Gyumri, is accused of disorderly conduct and illegal possession of weapons within the criminal case opened on the fact of a fight and shooting in Gyumri on August 24, said Sonya Truzyan, the press secretary of the General Public Prosecutor.

On the basis of the obtained evidences, the body of preliminary investigation has drawn Spartak Gukasyan as a suspect in the case of shooting and petitioned before the court to declare him as wanted, Sonya Truzyan told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The statement of law enforcement bodies says that on August 24 around 10:30 p.m., in Gyumri, in the crossing of Sayat Nova and Rustaveli Streets, a group of persons "flagrantly violated the public order, displayed an openly abusive attitude to the society, and provoked a fight, followed by swearing and shooting."

According to the preliminary investigation, the incident involved a resident of Gyumri Spartak Gukasyan and a candidate for the Council of Elders at the upcoming municipal elections Edgar Mkrtchyan, together with their friends.

So far, there are no comments of Spartak Gukasyan and his representatives regarding the allegations. Earlier, Lilith Agekyan, the press-secretary of the Gyumri Mayor, denied the information about participation of the Mayor's son in the incident.
