On September 10, in Armenia, "A1+" TV Company, deprived of air, starts broadcasting on frequency of "Armnews"

Starting from September 10, the Armenian "A1+" TV Company, which was deprived of air 10 years ago, will start broadcasting in the air of the "Armnews." It was reported by Artak Aleksanyan and Mesrop Movsisyan, the heads of the "A1+" and "Armnews".

News of the "A1+" will be released daily at 9:00 p.m. According to Mesrop Movsisyan, the main place in the issues will be paid to the problems in the sphere of culture.

Artak Aleksanyan, the head of the "Armnews", has told journalists that the contract is for one year and it will be extended by mutual agreement of the parties.

When asked about how at present the information policy of the "Armnews" corresponds to the pro-opposition policy of the "A1+", Mesrop Movsisyan stated: "We are not going to change the policy, and it is only a business partnership."

The "Caucasian Knot" reported that in April 2002, the "A1+" TV Company, uncontrollable by the authorities, was deprived of the air. In July 2008, the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) upheld the claim of the TV Company and considered that in 2002, the deprivation of air violated the right to freedom of speech. The ECtHR obliged the Armenian authorities to announce a tender and give the "A1+" TV Company a possibility to return to the air. In December 2010, the tender was held for the right to digital broadcasting; however, as a result, the "A1+" TV Company was not among the TV Companies, which obtained such rights.
