About one hundred people gathered at a meeting against violation of the law of local self-government in Kashkhatau, KBR

About one hundred people are currently present at a meeting against violation of the law of the Russian Federation in Kabardino-Balkaria in the rural resettlement of Kashkhatau, one of the participants of the action reported. The goal of the action is to draw attention of the authorities and Prosecutor General of Russia to non-observance of the law "On general principles of organization of local self-government" by regional and republican authorities.

It should be reminded that on August, 18, residents of the settlement of Bezenga, Cherksky district, held a meeting declaring their refusal to support creation of a tourist cluster in the territory of North-Caucasian Federal Okrug until the lands they considered traditionally belonging to them were transferred to municipal property of the settlement. In the people's opinion, this complies with the regulations of the law on local self-government.

The meeting in Kashkhatau started late. As of the moment, about one hundred persons are participating in it, the Administration of the rural settlement is represented by Mahmud Mamukoev, participant of the action Muradin Rakhaev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"Local authorities appointed the location of the action in the stadium which is out of the settlement, he said. - In order to get there one must climb a mountain, not all the residents of Kashkhatau are able to do that. Nevertheless, people are still coming".

According to our interlocutor, about fifteen law enforcement officers with dogs are guarding law and order at the meeting. According to Rakhaev, one of the participants was hospitalized being bitten by a police dog.
