No less than 16 people became victims of armed confrontation in Northern Caucasus during the period September, 3 - September, 9

Last week, September, 3 - September, 9, no less than 16 people became victims of armed confrontation in Northern Caucasus. 14 of them perished and two got wounded. These are the totals of calculation by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

There are 8 members of power ministries among those lost, 7 of them in Ingushetia and one in Chechnya. Two persons got wounded: one in Chechnya and one in Ingushetia. Six suspects of involvement in paramilitary groups were killed, 3 of them in Dagestan and 3 in KBR.

One should understand that the above statistics cannot reflect with absolute accuracy the number of victims in each of the identified categories of the survey. Not all the data get into news reports. It is not always possible to verify the reliability of statements made by law enforcement bodies.

Assaults at law enforcement personnel

Two supposed gunmen were killed in a skirmish with law enforcement officers in Kizilyurt district of Dagestan. A "VAZ 21014" was stopped for inspection near the settlement of Komsomolskoye. The men in the car opened fire at the policemen and were killed by backfire. None of the policemen got injured. The killed men were identified as resident of Astrakhan Victor Volkov and resident of the settlement of Sultatyangiyurt Ramazan Sharamazanov.

On September, 4, an officer of Kurchaloevsky district Department of Interior Affairs was wounded and hospitalized. In a mountainous and woody area in the neighbourhood of the settlement of Enikali a group of unidentified persons fired upon the personnel of local police department who were carrying out operational search actions.

On September, 5, some unknown persons in Sunzha district of Ingushetia blasted a motorcade with servicemen after which they fired upon it. An unidentified explosive device exploded in a highway near the settlement of Datykh while the motorcade was passing. After that the unknown people fired upon the motorcade from self-firers. Six policemen perished as a result and one got wounded.

At night of September, 6, two men in Nalchik opened fire at policemen and were killed. The incident took place during operational search actions in Dagetanskaya street. Law enforcement personnel discovered two suspicious persons who opened fire at the moment of an attempt to stop them for document inspection. They were killed by backfire. The killed men's identity was established. They turned out to be residents of the republic who were in federal search for a charge of organizing a paramilitary group or participation in it.

Special operations

The personnel of Dagestani police shot down a driver who refused to stop his car for inspection. On September, 8, two unidentified masked men one of whom was equipped with a gun got into a food-store in "Nauka" ("Science") cottage community, put a black bag on the counter and escaped saying that the explosive device would be activated in ten minutes. Bomb technicians of riot squad of the Ministry of Interior Affairs defused the device. Ten minutes later policemen from the cordon tried to stop and direct by way of a detour a VAZ-2112. The driver disobeyed and passed through security circlet at a high speed. The policemen used Government-issue weapons after a warning shot. The driver died on-site from wounding, as a result. The passenger got no injuries.

Explosions and acts of terror

On September, 5, a car burnt down after an explosion with human remains in the driver's seat was found near the settlement of Chiornaya Rechka, Urvan district of Kabardino-Balkaria. The dead man's identity was established. It was also detected that the VAZ-21093 and the driver burned down as a result of blasting of a home-made explosive device. In the investigation's opinion, the driver was transporting a bomb that exploded automatically on the way.

On September, 6, a policeman perished in Grozny as a result of blasting of an unidentified explosive device laid in a car. The incident took place at the crossroads of Bogdan Khmelnitsky and Chukotskaya streets, Lenin district of the town. The unidentified explosive device was laid under a seat of a Toyota-Corolla car belonging to a police captain, inspector of extra-departmental guards of the Ministry of Interior Affairs in Chechnya. The volume of the explosive device made 4 kilogram trotyl equivalent.

On September, 7, a policeman was wounded in Sunzha district of Ingushetia as a result of blasting of a service vehicle. The incident took place in the stanitsa of Orjonikidzevskaya. A home-made explosive device was laid by unidentified persons under a car belonging to Girikhan Nalgiev, Deputy Chief of district police officers' service of Sunzha district Department of Interior Affairs. He died in hospital.

Disappearances of people

On September, 2, resident of Buinaksk Sirazhuddin Khasaev disappeared, his wife Zaira Khasaeva reported. Later he was found, however, after a while Sirazhuddin Khasaev's relatives stated that he was kidnapped again.

Magomed Magomedov appealed to law enforcement bodies reporting disappearance of resident of the settlement of Maidanskoye Ahmed Magomedov.

Magomed Idrisov also appealed to law enforcement bodies about disappearance of his daughter Madina Idrisova who went to see her people in the settlement of Uchkent, Kumtorkalinsky district of Dagestan.

Aminat Isaeva reported disappearance of her son Islam Isaev to law enforcement bodies.
