Sochi investigators examine circumstances of death of member of Youth Parliament

Last night, Vladimir Avakyan, a member of the Youth Parliament at the City Assembly of Sochi and an activist of the volunteer movement to help victims of the Krymsk flood, was lost. Eyewitnesses say that he committed suicide.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Lieutenant Colonel of Justice Ivan Sengerov, Senior Assistant of the head of the Investigatory Department for the Krasnodar Territory of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), today the law enforcement bodies of the Tsentralny District of Sochi has received a message about the suicide committed by a 20-year old local resident, who fell from a viaduct in the micro-district "Svetlana".

In this regard, the Investigatory Division for the Tsentralny District of Sochi of the ICRF is conducting a check. According to preliminary data, at night on September 11 the young man came to the viaduct, located opposite the hotel "Zhemchuzhina", and climbed over the railing. At that moment, an ambulance was moving along the bridge.

"The medics tried to stop the young man from his intended act; however, he firmly decided to commit suicide. Therefore, the medics went to the nearest police station. Later, when they returned to the venue, they did not find the guy on the viaduct. Later his dead body was found under the viaduct on the roadway," said Sengerov.

According to his story, the inspection of the scene and the body revealed no traces of any violence applied to him.

The video cameras installed on residential buildings in Komsomolskaya Street under the viaduct, captured the fall and death of the 20-year-old young man.

The Youth Parliament of Sochi told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that Vladimir Avakyan was a member of the volunteer movement to help the victims of the Krymsk flood; he was a successful student of the Sochi State University for Tourism and Recreation (known as SGUTiK).

So far, nothing is known about the motives of his suicide.
