Five suspected militants killed in Dagestan

Today, in the village of Khutrakh, Tsuntin District of Dagestan, an armed skirmish burst out, in which five suspected militants were killed. As reported by the spokesman of the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), the leader of the so-called "Tsuntin grouping" was among them. One power agent was lost.

According to the Investigatory Committee for Dagestan, several members of illegal armed formations (IAFs) were hiding in a private house in Khutrakh.

The operation is conducted by special agents of the Frontier Service of the Russian Federal Security Bureau (FSB) and the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). The list of liquidated militants includes Gamzat Magomedov, the leader of the above grouping, who had been on the federal search list, Osman Aliev and Malach and Aslanbek Magomedov. The fifth casualty has not been identified yet.

According to law enforcers, the bandits had been involved in a number of crimes committed in the Tsuntin District of Dagestan. In particular, in 2010 they killed two locals and a Lieutenant Colonel of the Frontier Service and his driver. On May 31, 2012, in the village of Tsibari they set fire to the local school and killed Zairbek Gazimagomedov, the local teacher of physical culture, the RIA "Novosti" reports referring to the Information Centre of the NAC.

So far, no comments of casualties' relatives are available.
