Hungary turns to Switzerland for help in repairing its relations with Armenia

Restoration of relations with Armenia is a priority for the Hungarian diplomacy, as Janos Martonyi, the head of the Hungarian Foreign Office, told reporters.

According to his version, the decision of Prime Minister Viktor Orban to extradite Ramil Safarov is the government's decision. "The decisions of the Prime Minister and the government coincide; therefore, it's pointless to argue about who had made the decision about Safarov: Premier or the government," Mr Martonyi said on September 13.

The Armenian community of Hungary has released a statement, which expresses the rejection of the explanations of the Hungarian government on the extradition of Ramil Safarov.

"We don't understand and can't accept those explanations, under which, despite numerous promises granted to the Armenian party, the justice of Hungary, by neglecting the most important human and moral laws, gave up to the pressure of the Azerbaijani Turkish state, took the decision on extradition," said Nikogos Akopyan, Chairman of the "Armenian National Autonomy" in Hungary.

Armenians of Hungary demand to bring to justice those who took the decision to extradite Safarov, the "NEWS.am" reports.

Attila Mesterhazy, the leader of the oppositional Socialist Party of Hungary, called Premier Orban a "moral bankrupt" and called on him to resign. According to Mr Mesterhazy, Orban is personally responsible for the scandal that burst out after his decision, the "PanArmenian" reports.
