Residents of TAC "Promzhilbaza" in Karabulak stop hunger strike

Refugees from Chechnya living in the temporary accommodation centre (TAC) "Promzhilbaza" in the city of Karabulak in Ingushetia have decided to stop their hunger strike, Asya Khadisova, one of the protesters, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to her story, today the hunger-strikers were three times visited by Magomed Bariev, the head of Karabulak, who urged them to stop their action.

"The authorities went to concessions: those who plan to return to Chechnya were promised to have their refugee status extended; it was also promised that negotiations would be held with the neighbouring republic on the ways to solve the problem. As for those who have decided to stay in Ingushetia for permanent residence, they were also promised concessions: the authorities will try to find a solution to the issue of our housing. On our part, we have also decided to react positively and stop the hunger strike," said Ms Khadisova.

According to the refugee, the health condition of the women-hunger-strikers became much worse after one day of the action. "Every second woman is an invalid, my blood tension jumped up to nearly 200," she said.

The information on the termination of the hunger strike was confirmed by the "United Caucasian Forum", whose activists were present in the TAC as observers.
