Cherkessk: rally against growth of utility tariffs was over 100 people strong

Today, a rally in this city against the rise in utility tariffs was organized by the Karachay-Cherkessian Branch of the CPRF.

The action was attended by over 100 people from different cities and regions of Karachay-Cherkessia, who expressed their protest against the increase in tariffs for housing and communal services.

They held posters reading: "Government is generous for myths, but tariffs grow", "First raise pensions and wages – and then tariffs", "Reforms for people, not people for reformers", and others.

The growth of utility tariffs is particularly affecting vulnerable citizens, said Ekaterina Trulyanina, a resident of Cherkessk.

"For some time already, I can't pay my outstanding utility bills. The rates are on the rise all the time. Personally I am a pensioner; my son is an invalid; he can't work. I have a 2-month debt for water and heat. They threaten all the time to cut supplies for non-payment. All the time I go to instances and beg them not to do it and give me a delay," she said.

At the end of the action, the protesters adopted a resolution with a demand from the authorities to provide people with "normal living conditions at the rates, which correspond to wages and real incomes."
