Russian Supreme Court returns case on undermining "Neva-Express" Train to first instance court

Today, the Judicial Panel for Criminal Cases of the Russian Supreme Court granted a lawyer's motion to restore the right to defence of Tarkhan Kartoev, convicted in case on undermining the "Neva-Express" Train. The case will be sent to the first instance court for translation into Ingush, the lawyer Tatiana Okushko said.

The consideration of the appeals was to be started today; however, at the very beginning of the court session, Tatiana Okushko, the lawyer of Tarkhan Kartoev, filed a motion that the right to defence was violated. According to her, the verdict of the Tver Regional Court was poorly translated into the Ingush language.

Tatiana Okushko has explained the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the convicted Tarkhan Kartoev poorly understands Russian, and several sheets from the verdict were left untranslated into Ingush.

"In that regard, I filed a motion that the right to defence was violated. The Judicial Panel granted my motion. Therefore, the Judicial Panel of the Supreme Court withdrew the case from the constitutional consideration and returned it back to the Tver Regional Court to restore the violated rights," the lawyer said.

After full translation of the verdict into Ingush is completed, the defendants will repeatedly examine the verdicts.
