In Georgia, four persons detained on charges of bribing public officials

In Georgia, four persons were detained on the fact of bribing public officials. One of those cases involves Aleko Tabatadze, a candidate for MP from the "Georgian Dream", the block of Bidzina Ivanishvili. This was stated by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Georgia.

"The Georgian MIA has revealed evidence of bribery and attempted bribery of public officials, including police officers. Unfortunately, those facts became more often in recent times," reports the statement.

According to the MIA, Georgy Gerkerashvili, Georgy Dzotsenidze, Koba Samkharadze, and policeman Roman Maisuradze were detained. According to the MIA's report, on one of the facts of bribing the policeman, law enforcement agents seized 50,000 US dollars, offered to him. The investigation into the case against other persons is also underway, the "Georgia Online" reports.

The statement emphasizes that, since one of the cases related to bribery involves Aleko Tabatadze, the candidate for MP from the "Georgian Dream", the oppositional block of the businessman Bidzina Ivanishvili, the MIA has passed the case materials for further action to the Chief Prosecutor of Georgia, the IA "News-Georgia" reports.

According to Shota Khizanishvili, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, the case also involves a nephew of Bidzina Ivanishvili, who has not been arrested, the "Caucasus Online" reports.
