On September 17-23, 2012, at least 35 persons fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

Last week, on September 17-23, 2012, at least 35 persons suffered in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. Of these, 23 persons were killed and 12 wounded. These are the results of calculations of the "Caucasian Knot" based on own materials of the edition and information from other open sources.

The death toll includes 5 law enforcers, including 4 in Chechnya and 1 in Dagestan. 12 persons were wounded. Of these, 11 persons were wounded in Chechnya and 1 in Dagestan. 18 suspected militants were killed, including 8 in Kabardino-Balkaria, 5 in Ingushetia, 4 in Chechnya, and 1 in Dagestan.

Attacks on law enforcers

In the evening on September 18, in the micro-district "Druzhba" (Friendship) of the city of Buinaksk, Timurlan Arslangereev, born in 1986, a soldier of contract service, was killed by unidentified person. The contract soldier died from six gunshot wounds upon his delivery to a hospital.

On September 18, in Khasavyurt, representatives of power agencies killed a man, who opened fire to them when they tried to check his documents. The incident took place in Makhachkalinskoe Shosse Street in the territory of a bus station near a cafe in the city of Khasavyurt, where power agents conducted the investigatory and search operations. When asked to present documents, one of the men started shooting in the direction of the power agents. He was killed by return fire. The killed man was preliminary identified as Kamalutdin Khasaimirzaev, born in 1988. No power agents suffered in the incident.

On September 19, in the Kizilyurt District of Dagestan, four armed unidentified persons captured a car of a local resident and opened fire to policemen out of the car. As a result, a police officer was wounded. The car was captured in the outskirts of the village of Nechaevka. The criminals tied the driver, moved him to the back seat and left for the village of Sultanyangiyurt, where from the direction of a water tower they opened fire to by the control and defensive police station. As a result of shelling, one policeman got a gunshot wound to his leg and he was brought to the hospital of Kizilyurt.

Special operations

In the evening on September 18, during a special operation in the village of Ordzhonikidzevskaya of the Sunzha District of Ingushetia, law enforcers killed five militants, three of whom were in the federal search and were among the leaders of the "Sunzha" grouping. The law enforcers attempted to stop a car; however, they were rendered resistance, and in the course of the shooting, five persons were killed in the car. Three out of five participants of the armed underground were natives of Chechnya.

On September 20, in the Clara Zetkin Street in the city of Nalchik, members of illegal armed formations (IAFs) were blocked in a private house. The special operation in the micro-district "Kolonka" was completed early in the morning. In the course of the special operation in Nalchik, eight IAF members were killed, including two women and three militants' leaders. A woman with a baby was withdrawn out the blocked house. No civilians and law enforcers suffered.

Starting from September 18, staff members of the Chechen power agencies searched for a grouping of members of armed underground in the Vedeno District. During the special operation, four suspected IAF members were killed. Besides, 4 police officers were killed and 11 wounded.

Detentions

On September 16, in the outskirts of the village of Chumli of the Kaitag District of Dagestan, power agents detained a suspected IAF member.

On September 15, in Grozny and the foothill Achkhoi-Martan District of the republic, staff members of Chechen power agencies detained two persons, suspected of providing assistance to members of the armed underground.

On September 17, in the town of Baksan in Kabardino-Balkaria, a local resident, born in 1992, was detained. According to power agents, he provided assistance to IAF members.

On September 19, during a special operation to find and neutralize IAF members in the Vedeno District of Chechnya, power agents detained the leader of the IAF, which was liquidated earlier.

On September 22, in the flatland Naur District of Chechnya, staff members of the Republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) detained a 32-year-old local resident. He is charged that in 2009, he provided assistance to militants.

On September 22, a resident of the village of Kayakent of the Kayakent District of Dagestan was detained on suspicion of providing assistance to militants, and one more suspected accomplice of militants surrendered.

Disappearances

On September 18, the Russian MIA's Division in the city of Kaspiisk of the Republic of Dagestan received a complaint from a local resident that starting from September 11, he was not aware of whereabouts of his son.

On September 18, Aishat Alieva, a resident of Makhachkala, claimed that she could not find out the whereabouts of her husband Uzair Aliev, who was detained by staff members of the Kizlyar OVD (Interior Division) on September 16.

On September 21 and 22, five residents of Dagestan filed complaints about disappearance of their relatives to the republic's law enforcement agencies.
