In Astrakhan Region, court sentences Roman Ryazantsev to 3.5 years of imprisonment on case of death of soldiers at training ground "Ashuluk"

The Astrakhan Garrison Military Court found Captain Roman Ryazantsev guilty in the case of the death of soldiers when unloading shells at the training ground "Ashuluk" in Astrakhan and sentenced him to 3.5 years of imprisonment in a penal settlement colony.

The "Caucasian Knot" reported that on August 23, at once 6 soldiers perished and 12 soldiers were injured at the training ground "Ashuluk" in the explosion of ammunition at their disposal. Later, two of the wounded soldiers died in hospitals. According to military men, the explosion was caused by spontaneous start of main engine of one of the shells.

The Astrakhan Garrison Military Court found Captain Roman Ryazantsev, the commander of the composite squadron of ammunition demolition of the military unit 45767, guilty of "negligence in performance of official duties, resulting in death of two or more persons." This was reported by the report, published on the website of the General Prosecutor's Office of Russia.

According to the report, the Court found that at unloading ammunition at the training ground "Ashuluk" in the Astrakhan Region, Roman Ryazantsev violated the requirements of work safety of his subordinates and that led to the deaths of 8 soldiers and the injuries of 3 persons.

The Military Court agreed with the position of the prosecutor and sentenced Roman Ryazantsev to 3.5 years of imprisonment in a penal settlement colony. The Prosecutor's Office did not specify the date of sentencing.
