Advocates of convicts for riots in Manege Square in Moscow appeal to ECtHR

Lawyers of persons, convicted in the case of riots in Manege Square in Moscow in December 2010, filed an appeal to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) against the sentence to Igor Berezyuk, Ruslan Khubaev, and Kirill Unchuk, the activists of the Other Russia. This was reported by Dmitry Agranovsky, the lawyer of Igor Bereziuk.

The "Caucasian Knot" also reported that on October 28, 2011, the court sentenced Igor Berezyuk, Kirill Unchuk, Ruslan Khubaev, Leonid Panin, and Alexander Kozevin, the figurants in the case of riots in Manege Square, the activists of the Other Russia, to 2-5.5 years of imprisonment. On March 29, the judicial panel of the Moscow City Court commuted sentences for several defendants.

"A second appeal was filed. The lawyers insist that Article 6 of the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights was violated," Dmitry Agranovsky has explained.

Besides, according to the lawyer, they filed a supervisory appeal to the Presidium of the Moscow City Court against the verdict to Igor Berezyuk.

It should be noted that earlier, the lawyers file to the European Court of Human Rights an appeal to recognize the verdict of the court in Russia unlawful and the ECtHR took it into consideration.
