Ukrainian law enforcement agencies verify the version that the man, who on September 26 shelled guards in the Kiev shopping centre, is Alexander Parinov, a member of the radical neo-Nazi grouping "United Brigades-88", who was suspected of involvement in the murder of lawyer Stanislav Markelov and journalist Anastasia Baburova in Moscow.

Unidentified man shot dead and wounded securities in Kiev shopping centre "Caravan"

In the afternoon of September 26, a guard of the shopping centre "Caravan", located in Lugovaya Street in Kiev, noticed that one of the visitors stole goods. After that the visitor was invited to the security room. There, the criminal opened fire. He killed three guards in place and seriously wounded the fourth guard. Then, he fled from the place.

According to Igor Mikhalko, Chief of the Press Service of the Chief Department of the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) in Kiev, the suspect possesses a weapon properly, since all four shots, made in the security room with area of 12 square meters, were accurate. A criminal case was instituted on the fact under Part 2 (murder) of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The Kiev law enforcement officers call on possible witnesses to the crime to contact them they guarantee to pay remuneration in the amount of 100,000 hryvnas for information, which would help in the search for the criminal. The militia officers have already received eight reports on the suspected murderer, the "RBC-Ukraine" reports.

Russian "killer" is among suspects of killing people in Kiev

At present, the Ukrainian law enforcement agencies verify the version, according to which the killer may be Alexander Parinov, a member of the radical neo-Nazi grouping "United Brigades-88", some members of which joined together to form a terrorist organization that claimed responsibility for the crimes, committed by the acronym BORN ("Battle Organization of Russian Nationalists").

In Russia, Alexander Parinov (according to some sources, he was known in right-wing circles as Rumyn (Romanian)) was put on the federal wanted list yet in 2006 on suspicion of murdering anti-fascist Alexander Ryukhin. He was also suspected of involvement in the murder of lawyer Stanislav Markelov and journalist Anastasia Baburova.

Stanislav Markelov was the lawyer of the victim party at trial in the case of the murder of Alexander Ryukhin. Alexander Parinov and Nikita Tikhonov were defendants in the same case (later, the "Caucasian Knot" reported, Nikita Tikhonov was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Stanislav Markelov and Anastasia Baburova.

According to some sources, after detention of Nikita Tikhonov and Eugenia Khasis for the murder, a number of former members of the "United Brigades-88" committed a series of murders in revenge. Later, some of them were hiding in Ukraine, including Alexei Korshunov, whom Alexander Parinov was supposed to contact for help, while being in the same country, the "Gazeta.Ru" reports.

"If it was Alexander Parinov, he could kill the guards, since he feared of being detained by the police. He realized that if caught he could be sentenced for all committed crimes to a long prison term or life imprisonment," the edition quotes a source in the law enforcement agencies, close to the investigation of crimes, committed by nationalists, as saying.

Till present, there is no official confirmation that the law enforcement agencies treat Alexander Parinov as a possible suspect in the case of shelling the guards of the shopping centre "Caravan".

Earlier, the "Forbes-Ukraine" reported with reference to a source in the MIA that the criminal had been identified, and the murderer was "a Russian killer, who, according to unconfirmed information, killed 18 persons."

However, yesterday, on October 2, Vladimir Polischuk, Chief of the Public Relations Department of the Ukrainian MIA, commented on the information and said: "We do not confirm that information," the agency "Interfax-Ukraine" reports.
