A serviceman perished in Chechnya as a result of blasting on a mine

A soldier of contract service of a unit of the Ministry of Defense of Russia perished in the foothill Urus-Martan district of Chechnya as a result of blasting on a trip-wire mine, military commandant's office of the republic informed.

"A serviceman of reconnaissance unit of the Ministry of Defense, soldier of contract service, perished in the morning of October, 4, in a woodland of Urus-Martan district, at about ten kilometers distance from the settlement of Martan. A team of riot squad was carrying out search and reconnaissance actions is this area, one of them trod upon a trip-wire mine. As a result of the explosion he got a grave missile wounding and died on the way to hospital. No one else got injured in the incident", an officer of military commandant's office informed.

According him, investigation is in process on the serviceman's death and the question of starting criminal proceedings is under discussion. He added that the servicemen were carrying out actions in search of gunmen and their bases and hiding places in Urus-Martan district.
