No less than 14 persons killed in an c in Northern Caucasus during the week from October, 1, till October, 7

At least 22 people became victims of armed confrontation in Northern Caucasus last week, October, 1, till October, 7, 2012. 14 out of them perished and eight got wounded. These are the totals of calculation by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and other open sources.

Five officers of law enforcement bodies and other power-wielding structures perished, four in Ingushetia and one in Chechnya. Seven persons got wounded: three in Dagestan, two in Chechnya and two in Ingushetia.

Nine supposed members of paramilitary groups were killed, all of them in Dagestan.

One civilian got wounded in Dagestan.

Special operations

On October, 1, members of power ministries blocked a group of supposed gunmen who put up resistance opening fire from self-firers at law enforcement officers in a private housing estate in the settlement of Chontaul, Kizilyurt district of Dagestan. Two gunmen were killed as a result of a storm. One of them was identified as participant of "Kizilyurt" group Gamzat Ismailov. The second one was identified as Bashir Alisultanov born in 1984.

On October, 3, an armed confrontation took place in the settlement of Dattykh, Sunzha district of Ingushetia. Four policemen were killed as a result and two got wounded. Chechen members of power ministries continued search of the gunmen who fired in the area of administrative border with Ingushetia. The gunmen were not found.

Four supposed participants of paramilitary groups were killed by law enforcement officers in a special operation in Buinaksk district of Dagestan. The joint operation of the Ministry of Interior Affairs and Federal Security Service was carried out in "Buinaksk - Kizilyurt" highway. A "Mercedes" jeep was stopped and firing was opened from it. Four men in the cabin were killed by backfire. There are no victims or injured persons among law enforcement personnel. Two of the killed men were identified. The third one was identified later.

On October, 5, as a result of a special operation in Buinaksk, Dagestan, three supposed participants of a paramilitary group who put up resistance to the personnel of federal forces were blocked in a five-storey house of "Druzhba" micro-district. The three gunmen were killed in a skirmish. There are no victims among members of power ministries. The killed men were identified.

Explosions and acts of terror

On October, 4, an unidentified person threw a grenade into a window of the building of police department for fight against corruption in Buinaksk. Two police officers got wounded.

A policeman got wounded on October, 4, at the moment of explosion of a car in Derbent, Dagestan. An explosive device was activated under an "Opel" car in Buinaksky street. Two persons got injured in the explosion: the police driver and a man who approached him.

A contract serviceman of a unit of the Ministry of Defense of Russia perished on October, 4, in Urus-Martan district of Chechnya as a result of blasting on a trip-wire mine. A group of riot squad serviceman were carrying out reconnaissance and search actions in this area and one of them trod upon a trip-wire mine. The serviceman got a grave missile wounding and died on the way to hospital.

Two servicemen of a unit of the Ministry of Defense of Russia got wounded as a result of blasting on a trip-wire mine in the South of Chechnya. The incident took place in the evening of October, 5, when the servicemen of a reconnaissance company were carrying out their operational mission in the woodland of Vedeno district. During the raid a hidden explosive device was activated, supposedly, a trip-wire mine. As a result, two servicemen got wounding of different extent of gravity. Both were taken to a military hospital.

Detentions

On October, 1, republican law enforcement personnel in Sunzha district of Chechnya detained a nineteen-year-old local resident who is suspected of assistance to participants of armed underground.

On October, 3, a resident of Nalchik was detained in Kabardino-Balkaria for suspicion of complicity in the activities of paramilitary groups.

Disappearances of people

On October, 1, resident of Krasnodar region Devran Zagirov called to the standby unit in Derbent district of Dagestan reporting his son's disappearance on his way to Dagestan.

During the day and night of October, 3, four persons appealed to the police of Dagestan reporting their relatives' disappearance. They were residents of Makhachkala, Buinaksk and Kazbek districts. Location of two persons who disappeared earlier is now established.

On October, 4, the police of Dagestan received two statements about kidnapping of a boy from the children's home of Izerbash and disappearance of a young girl in the settlement of Leninkent of Makhachkala.

Resident of the settlement of Bondarenovka, Kizlyar district of Dagestan, Khati Rajabova appealed to the Dagestan regional non-profit organization "Protection of Human Rights" asking for help in search of her daughter-in-law and her baby about whose fate she knew nothing since September, 23. The woman suspects that her daughter-in-law might be kept in one of the police departments of Makhachkala.
