Death of six persons in Derbent as a result of a flood confirmed

The personnel of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in Dagestan established identity of six victims of flooding as a result of showers in Derbent. The information of the seventh person who perished has not been confirmed as of the moment. The investigators are inspecting the officials' activities during the emergency in the town.

It should be reminded that last night 1120 people got into the zone of flooding in the town of Derbent, 280 children among them. Seven victims and submergence of 320 dwelling houses were reported. By morning the rescuers pumped out water from the basement of the houses and started clearing the roadway from stones, ground and garbage bought by showers.

The Ministry of Interior Affairs of Dagestan reported the names of the people who perished as a result of natural calamity. They are Akinetdin Yusupov born in 1967, Abzer Mamedaliev born in 1988, Maizetdin Mamedaliev born in 1967, Ildaste Mamedalieva born in 1968, Firuza Shikhkerimova botn in 1965 and Ali Alkrperov ten months old.

This data is being verified, spelling mistakes in these persons' first and last names are possible, web-site of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of the republic reports.

The information of the seventh victim has not yet been confirmed at the moment, RIA "Dagestan" reports adding that recovery works are in process in the zone of emergency and are expected to be accomplished by evening.

After pumping out water power supply switched off during the disaster was reestablished in the houses of Derbent, then water and gas supply was enabled. A temporary accommodation point for injured people was opened in the town but nobody wishes to stay there yet.

A representative of Investigative Department of Committee of Inquiry of the Russian Federation in Dagestan reported that inspection was being carried out concerning officials responsible for due notice to the population about possible emergency and measures for its prevention, RIA "Novosti" reports.

However, a resident of Derbent sent an SMS message to the "Caucasian Knot" that nobody warned the townsmen of the emergency.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that the population was notified from minarets of the mosques and by means of motor transport raids with loudspeakers round the streets.
