Constructors of Olympic facility cordon off dwelling house in Sochi, local resident asserts

Constructors of the Olympic facility form the Research and Industrial Association (RIA) "Mostovik" cordoned off a house, belonging to a Sochi resident, with three-meter monolithic fence with barbed wire and deprived its tenants to leave the house. This was reported by Alexei Kravets, the owner of the house. According to the constructors, they intend to use such a way to achieve eviction of the tenants to be able to demolish the house, which hinder the construction of the Olympic facility, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The Sochi resident reported on the actions of the constructors to an officer on duty at the Adler OVD (Interior Division). "I called the police to complain about illegal deprivation of my liberty. My son came home from school, and he could not get home. He had to use a ladder to overcome the fence at the risk of life. We were waiting for the police for five hours. In the evening, at last, the police finally arrived; however, policemen could not get into the house," Alexei Kravets said. He has added that he had to communicate with the police "through a gap in the fence."

The unit on duty of the Adler OVD confirmed that the complaint of Alexei Kravets had been registered on October 9.

Photo by Svetlana Kravchenko for the "Caucasian Knot"Alexei Kravets inherited the house No. 65 in Prosvescheniya Street from his grandparents, railroad workers, who lived in it since 1940. For 70 years, the house got out of order, and the family of Alexei has increased. On land plot, where the old house was located, Alexei Kravets built a new house of 200 square meters.

On May 2, 2012, at the lawsuit of the Sochi Administration, Roman Yazvenko, Judge of the Adler District Court, in the interest of the Olympic Department recognized house of Alexei Kravets as unauthorized construction. The land plot with cadastral number 23:49:0402013:226, where the house is located, has been allocated by the State Corporation (SC) "Olympstroy" for the construction of the Olympic facility of the combined road and railway of "Alpika-Service".

On July 30, Bailiff Ruslan Portnov started enforcement proceedings. However, Alexei Kravets refused to move out of the house with a minor son. According to him, he had nowhere to go, and that is his only home with the child. "Since July, I keep defence at home and demand to provide me and my child with equivalent housing. The court decision did not specify what kind of house was to be demolished, and I was refused in the clarification of the court decision," Alexei Kravets said.

Workers of the RIA "Mostovik", who carry out works near the house of Alexei Kravets, explained that they had no time to wait for the house to be demolished and released. They were instructed by their managers to cordon off the house with a fence to force tenants to move out of it and to prevent their return to the house. The workers refused to report on the information about the manager, who gave such an instruction.

"At night of October 10-11, we with my child for the first time spend the night at our house, cordoned off by barbed wire and three-meter fence, without the possibility to leave and enter the house. We have limited supplies of water and food," Alexei Kravets said. The red painted inscription on the windows of his house reads: "SOS! People live here".
