Relatives of disappeared head of Tsatanikh village plan protest rally in Makhachkala

Relatives and compatriot villagers of Shamil Saipulaev, the leader of the village of Tsatanikh of the Untsukul District of Dagestan, who disappeared in Khasavyurt on October 6, plan to hold in Makhachkala a protest rally on October 25. The father of the disappeared man claims police inaction. The Republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reports that the investigation is underway and refuses to disclose new information.

The notification of the rally has already been submitted to the Makhachkala Mayoralty. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Svetlana Isaeva, the co-organizer of the protest action, Chair of the public organization "Mothers of Dagestan for Human Rights".

"The father of the disappeared man appealed to our organization for help. He said he wanted the rally to draw attention to the fact that policemen were still unable to find his son. The rally is to be held on October 25 in front of the 'Russian Theatre'. The notification reports on 5000 participants," the human rights defender said.

Nurmagomed Saipulaev, the father of the village leader, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the police do nothing.

"We have already held several pickets in the Untsukul District. Their result was that we met the MIA's leader. Abdurashid Magomedov, Minister of Internal Affairs, promised to reveal the whereabouts of my son in the nearest future; however, there are no results. For example, we stopped the picket near the village of Gimry, which was held on October 10, since officers from the MIA called us and said that there were some clues; however, later, it turned out that they were unimportant. Therefore, we want to hold the rally and point out the inaction of the police," Nurmagomed Saipulaev has emphasized.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been told at the press service of the Dagestani MIA that the investigation into the case of the disappearance of Shamil Saipulaev is underway.

"MIA's staff members are actively working on the case, and, furthermore, it is under the control of the Minister. The question is that, in the interest of the investigation, even relatives of the disappeared man are not reported on the obtained information. The complex of measures on the search of Shamil Saipulaev is being conducted, and the investigation is underway," a representative of the press service has emphasized.

It should be noted that the compatriot villagers of Shamil Saipulaev do not rule out that he had been kidnapped.
