Defendants in Vyacheslav Merekha's case to remain under home arrest

The today's court session on the case of use of torture against Vyacheslav Merekha at the Predgorny District of the OVD (Interior Division) of the Stavropol Territory extended the term of home arrest to the defendants for the entire period of the trial. This was reported by Natalia Spiridonova, a relative of Vyacheslav Merekha.

According to her, today, the trial repeatedly, after the cancellation of the Regional Court, considered the victim's motion to change the pre-trial restriction measure to the defendants from home arrest to detention in custody.

Earlier, the Stavropol Regional Court cancelled the decision of the lower court the Predgorny District Court and sent the issue of pre-trial restriction measure against former police officers for a new consideration.

"The Predgorny District Court again dismissed the motion and extended the home arrest of the defendants for the entire period of the trial. No comment, since everything is clear and I have nothing to add," Natalia Spiridonova has noted. She has also clarified that the next court session on the case is scheduled for October 19.
