Georgia plans to introduce Military Ombudsman

Special Military Ombudsman will be appointed in Georgia. This was reported by Irakli Alasaniya, the candidate for the position of Minister of Defence.

Commenting on the reforms in the Ministry of Defence (MoD), Irakli Alasaniya told the journalists in his conversation with them, which occurred on October 12, that the rights of military men would be protected. He has noted that Georgia will appoint Special Military Ombudsman, who will investigate all violations of human rights in all military units.

"Soldier and creation of all necessary conditions for him are our core value. The second value is the return of professional personnel, both to civilian and to military spheres. And the third is transparency. According to my information, at present, there are a lot of massive violations," the "GHN" quotes Irakli Alasaniya as saying.

Irakli Alasaniya has promised to return to the armed forces all professional military men, many of whom were dismissed for political reasons.

He has promised to continue integration into the European and Euro-Atlantic institutions, the "Izvestiya" reports.
