A traffic officer detained in Rostov-on-Don for suspicion of receiving a bribe from Dasha Popova's abductor

A criminal case was initiated against an ex-traffic officer suspected of releasing a supposed abductor of Dasha Popova aged eight in Rostov-on-Don for a bribe. He is placed under house arrest, Committee of Inquiry of Russia (CIR) reports.

The investigation supposes that on September, 27, at the entrance of Rostov-on-Don, the inspector or Road Patrol Service of a detached Road Patrol Service platoon of State Traffic Safety Inspectorate on the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Russia in Aksai district stopped a car with the driver in a drunken state. The traffic officer got 15 thousand rubles for not making the driver administratively liable, web-site of CIR reports.

On the same day the driver was detained for suspicion of kidnapping the eight-year-old girl. During interrogation he told all about the official crime committed by the officer of State Traffic Safety Inspectorate.

Identity of the Road Patrol Service officer is established. He is suspected of committing a crime stipulated by part 3, clause 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (bribe-taking by an official for illegal actions or inaction).

The suspect confessed to taking a bribe, repented of his deed and is collaborating with the investigation. During investigation he was dismissed from the bodies of interior affairs.
