ECtHR to consider complaint of Vera Drobinskaya, guardian from Astrakhan

The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) accepted for consideration of the complaint, filed by Vera Drobinskaya, from whom biological parents took a child under her guardianship. The ECtHR sent information about the case "Drobinskaya vs. Russia" to the Commissioner of the Russian Federation at the ECtHR.

Let us remind you that on May 4, 2010, in Astrakhan, parents, who left their newborn baby with a disability, took away at the court the Vera Drobinskaya's right for the child, who had been the guardian of the boy during nine years. The decision was made by the Trusovo District Court.

The former guardian disagrees with the court decision and the refusal of the opportunity to see the child and filed a claim to the European Court of Human Rights.

After notification of the complaint, the Commissioner of the Russian Federation at the ECtHR will send requests to different authorities to collect information on the case and to provide a response to the ECtHR. After that, having obtained all parties' positions, the ECtHR will make the decision on the case.

"The Court recognized me and my children (in 2007, Vera Drobinskaya also took custody of eight children with disabilities from the Raznochinovka orphan home in Astrakhan in 2007, note of the 'Caucasian Knot') to be strangers for the child, despite the fact that we had been happy family members, who shared sorrow and joy for more than nine years. How I can explain the children that one of our family members was taken away and we have no right to see him," Vera Drobinskaya stated.

With the help of the ECtHR, the woman wants to urge the Russian authorities to reconsider the court decision. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" by lawyer Olga Shepeleva, the expert of the "Public Verdict" Foundation.
