Two policemen in Kabardino-Balkaria suspected of beating up a local resident

A criminal case was initiated against two officers of State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Ministry of Interior Affairs who according to the investigation, beat up a local resident and fractured his chest, Committee of Inquiry of the Russian Federation reports.

According to the investigation's version, in the evening of September, 7, officers of Special battalion of first response of State Traffic Safety Inspectorate (STSI) of the Ministry of Interior Affairs stopped a car driven by local resident Kunashev in the settlement of Argudan, Leskensky district. Suspecting the man of driving in a drunken state the officers of STSI forced him into the patrol car.

On the way to the police unit, at the entrance of the settlement of Stary Cherek, Urvan district, after Kunashev's refusal to report his personal data the policeman in the backseat of the car clasped the detainee round his neck by both hands, immobilized him and his colleague struck him in his chest and left hip with his elbow and fist. As a result, Kunashev's sternum was fractured.

The road police inspectors are incriminated point "a", part 3, clause 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of authority with the use of violence).

If violations of the law by the policemen are confirmed they will be discharged from the bodies of interior affairs and their immediate supervisors will be called to disciplinary account, the Ministry of Interior Affairs in Kabardino-Balkaria informs.
