Striking miners in Georgia accused the management of the enterprise of double-dealing

The participants of a strike of miners and workers in the town of Chiatura in the West of Georgia accused the management of the company of double-dealing and improper expenditure of the money collected on construction of a temple. They submitted the respective statement to Public Prosecutor's office.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that a strike of miners of "Georgian Manganese" company started in Chiatura on October, 15. About 1000 persons participated in the action. The miners demand from the management of the company to increase their salary and improve labor conditions. On October, 17, all the mines and factories suspended work in Chiatura. About 3700 people tookpart in the strike.

On October, 18, representatives of the strikers issued a statement running that for over three years they regularly transferred five lari from their salary (90 rubles by the rate of October, 19 - note by the "Caucasian Knot") on construction of a church. As a result the sum collected came to sixthousand thirty hundredlari. The miners insist that the money was not spent on construction of the temple, "PIC" TV channel informs.

Association of Trade Unions of Georgia and a professional association of workers of metallurgical, mining and chemical industry declared their solidarity with the miners. Trade Unions also called for Public Prosecutor's office of Georgia to verify the strikers' statement of double-dealing, "Georgia Online" reports.
