Svetlana Adamenko: girls, not allowed to enter school in Stavropol Territory in hijabs, return to school

In the conflict between parents and teachers of the secondary school No. 12 of the village of Kara-Tyube of the Neftekumsk District of the Stavropol Territory, where girls in Muslim headscarves-hijabs were not allowed to attend classes, a compromise was found. This was reported by Svetlana Adamenko, Commissioner for Children's Rights in the Stavropol Territory. According to her, the girls again sat down at school desks.

"During all those disputes about hijabs, we forget about the important issue about the children," Svetlana Adamenko stated. She has reported that the girls, whose parents filed a complaint to the Prosecutor's Office, wore headscarves and returned to classes.

According to Svetlana Adamenko, the Prosecutor's Office continues to conduct the investigation into the complaint about violations of the children's rights to free secondary-level education and religious liberty. According to the Commissioner for Children's Rights in the Stavropol Territory, an appeal to the court is under preparation, the reports STRC (State TV and Radio Company) "Stavropolye".

Till present, there is no information on the reconciliation of the representatives of the school and the parents, between whom the conflict occurred.

According to the very residents of the village of Kara-Tyube, they have already filed a claim against the school No. 12. "We filed the claim against the school's violation of the rights, guaranteed to us by the Russian Constitution the right to religious liberty and the right to education. Those rights are guaranteed by Article 28 and Article 43 of the Russian Constitution," said the father of one of the schoolgirls, who were not allowed to attend classes. According to him, the court promised to consider the claim of the girls' parents within 10 days, the "Komsomolskaya Pravda" reports.
