In Chechnya, Dagestani resident, wanted for kidnapping of person, detained

In the city of Grozny, law enforcement officers detained a 40-year old native of Dagestan, who was on the federal wanted list on suspicion of involvement in kidnapping of a person.

"On October 18, at one of the police checkpoints in the city of Grozny, a VAZ-2114 car, driven by the 40-year-old resident of the Republic of Dagestan, was stopped for a standard check," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by a staff member of the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

According to him, during the check on the database, it was revealed that in 2006, the driver of the car was put on the federal wanted list of the Khanty-Mansiysk UVD (Interior Department).

"He is accused of kidnapping for ransom," said a source from the republic's law enforcement agencies.

The detained Dagestani resident signed a recognizance not to leave. "A check was initiated against him. The initiator of the search has been notified of the whereabouts of the person from the wanted list," the source has noted.
