Dagestan: lawyer requests to return case on teenager's sexual abuse for further investigation

In Dagestan, lawyer of Zhairuly Umarov, a local resident, accused of sexual abuse of a minor, files a motion to return the case for further investigation. Today, the Supreme Court of Dagestan held the next court hearing on the case.

During the today's court hearing, the Court questioned two witnesses for the prosecutors. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by a source at the Supreme Court of Dagestan.

"The both witnesses were asked about how they would describe the defendant and his relationship with his stepson. The both witnesses said that they had good relationship and the child enjoyed spending time with his stepfather. Prosecutor read out the testimony of Kalymatova during the investigation, where she described the defendant in the negative. The witness stated that she had not given such testimony," the source stated.

Sapiyat Magomedova, the defendant's lawyer, filed the motion to return the case for further investigation. "Judge Zakir Israfilov has said that he will make the decision on the motion after the prosecutor examines it and that the latter has two weeks for that. Therefore, according to the Judge, the next trial is scheduled for November 15," the source said.
