On October 22-28, 7 persons killed in armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

Last week, on October 22-28, 2012, at least 12 persons fell victim to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. Of these, 7 persons were killed and 5 wounded. These are the results of calculations of the "Caucasian Knot" based on own materials of the edition and information from other open sources.

5 suspected members of the armed underground were killed: three in Dagestan, one in Ingushetia, and one in North Ossetia. One policeman and one civilian were killed in North Ossetia. 5 persons were wounded: four in North Ossetia, and one in Dagestan.

Attacks on law enforcers

On October 22, in Dagestan, unidentified persons shelled a crew of the patrol-and-post service in Makhachkala, one of the attackers was killed, and two others fled from the place. None of the law enforcement agents suffered. The man, killed in a shootout during the attack on the crew of the patrol-and-post service in Dagestan, has been identified, it was Magomed Gasminov.

On October 26, in Khasavyurt, unidentified man shelled a law enforcement agent, and the victim was hospitalized. The incident took place near a house, located in Shkolny Lane.

Special operations

On October 28, in Khasavyurt, 2 suspected members of illegal armed formations were killed. They were blocked in a private house on the outskirts of the city. According to a source in law enforcement bodies of Dagestan, when offered to surrender, they started a shootout. None of the power agents suffered. The killed persons have been identified. One more person was detained.

Explosions and terror acts

At night on October 23, a suicide bomber activated an explosive device at the "Chermen" checkpoint of the road-and-patrol service, located on the administrative border of North Ossetia and Ingushetia. As a result of the explosion, one police officer was killed, and 4 other police officers were wounded.

On October 24, a car was blown up in the Nazran District of Ingushetia. A suspected militant was killed. On the outskirts of the village of Ali-Yurt in the Nazran District, unidentified persons activated detonated an explosive device on the way of a car.

Detentions

On October 22, in Grozny, a resident of the Sunzha District of Chechnya was detained by law enforcement agents on suspicion of rendering assistance to members of illegal armed formations (IAFs).

On October 23, in the high-mountain Shatoi District of Chechnya police officers detained a local woman, suspected of rendering assistance to members of the armed underground.

On October 26, in the south-eastern Chechnya, in the foothill Kurchaloi District, law enforcement agents of the republic detained 3 residents of the Botlikh District of Dagestan, suspected of rendering assistance to members of the armed underground.

On October 26, in Ingushetia, during a special operation, a man, a suspected member of the IAF, was detained.

Two residents of Makhachkala were detained on suspicion of illegal acquisition and possession of firearms.

Attacks on civilians

On October 23, in Buinaksk, unidentified persons opened fire at a local resident.

Disappearances

On October 22 and 23, 3 residents of Dagestan disappeared. This was reported to law enforcement bodies by their relatives. Besides, the police was contacted by a resident of the town of Novoshakhtinsk, who filed an application about disappearance of his brother two years ago, who lived in the Kaitag District of Dagestan.
