"Imedi" sacks more than 30 journalists

In Georgia, labour contracts have been terminated with 36 journalists of the "Imedi" TV Company. According to the dismissed journalists, no explanations were provided.

The dismissal decision was made by Georgiy Lominadze, Director General of the "Imedi", and announced at the staff meeting, the "Business Georgia" reported on November 3.

According to Irma Loriya, a producer of the "Chronicles" programme, in accordance with the contracts of the "Imedi" workers, the employer had the right to fire them at any time without any explanations. "We were all dismissed without any comments," she said.

Earlier, the same measure was applied to Mate Kirvalidze, the head of the information service of the "Imedi".

The list of the dismissed includes well-known Georgian journalists who had participated – in this way or other – in recent years in the PR campaigns of President Mikhail Saakashvili and the "United National Movement", the "Echo of the Caucasus" writes.
