Armenia: "Heritage" leader confirms his intention to become president

Raffi Ovannisyan, an ex-Foreign Minister and the current leader of the "Heritage" Party, has confirmed his readiness to participate in the upcoming presidential election in Armenia. He officially announced it at a press conference in Yerevan on November 2.

His first statement about his intention to run for presidency was made at the Armenian Centre for National and International Studies on September 20. The presidential election in Armenia is scheduled for February 2013.

"I call on all those intellectuals, members of civil movements, human rights activists, political parties and citizens of Armenia, who believe that our country is not the property of one man, to participate in the presidential election," said the party leader.

Raffi Ovannisyan said that he would run for president only for one term and in the future is not going to stand for. He is confident that if the election goes fair, the country will have a new president.
