Workers of two building companies in Gabala, Azerbaijan, reported violation of their labour rights
In the morning of March, 25, workers of two building companies in Gabala held an action of protest against violation of their labour rights by the employer emphasizing their low wages.
About 100 workers of "Azеri Trans" company building fencing in the highway area from “Gabala” airport to the town and restoring houses participated in the action. The protesters complained of the absence of labour contracts stating that yet two months before they demanded singing the contracts and 46 persons were dismissed because of this action.
In connection with that the workers appealed to the President of the country and the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the population of Azerbaijan. Among other claims the protesters demanded eight-hour working day.
Tabriz Abdulkhalygov, Chief architect of executive authority of Gabala, came out to the protesters. He promised that after the holidays he would settle the people’s problems. However, the management of the company in no way responded to their employees’ demands, Haqqin.az reports.
Workers of a building company which is part of "Gilan Holding" also participated in the action setting up the same claim, radio “Azadlyg” reports.
