Caucasus leads in contest of Russian sights
The castle complex Vovnushki in the Djeirakh District of Ingushetia and the mosque named after Akhmad Kadyrov "Heart of Chechnya" in Grozny are the leaders in the multimedia contest-project "Russia-10", designed to select the most popular attractions of the country. Besides, participants of the contest are actively voting for two other attractions in the Southern Russia - the temple "Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni" in Elista and the Mamaev Kurgan with the sculpture "Motherland Calls" in Volgograd.
The contest "Russia-10" is conducted by the TV Channel "Russia-1" and the Russian Geographical Society with the informational support of several TV channels, radio and the newspaper "Komsomolskaya Pravda". The contest is held on March 25-September 29, 2013. According to the official website of the project, its goal is "to maintain steady interest to our country as an object of national and international tourism, tell about unique geographical, architectural and historical sites of Russia", "promote the greatest monuments of architecture and nature", and form a new wave of "geopatriotism" in the regions.
According to the organizers, only on the first day of the contest, the number of unique visitors to the website "10russia.ru" was about 30,000; at present, the figure is about 45,000 visitors per day. And the greatest activity in voting belongs to Northern Caucasus (the current number of votes for the sights of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) is 661,285) and the Volga Federal District (651,001), while the sights of the Southern Federal District (SFD) have received 179,782 votes. In total, an average number of votes per day reaches 100,000-120,000; about 700 photos are uploaded, and 400-500 of them are posted.
