In Dagestani village of Terechnoe, Day of Knowledge marked against protest rally organized by pupils' parents
On the Day of Knowledge, in the village of Terechnoe of the Khasavyurt District, parents and school teachers held a spontaneous rally and claimed the catastrophic condition of the school building.
According to the report of Nazhmutdin Mukuev, Chairman of the parent committee of the school, in the recent ten years, no funds were allocated from the budget to renovate the school, which began operating in 1972. "All the materials are purchased by the parents' money, and repair costs fall on technicians, teachers. And parents also help them," the Chairman of the parent committee has said.
"Schooling of children in such a building means threat to the children's lives and health. Throughout the years, inter-departmental commissions conducted examinations of technical condition of the school building, and the conclusion was always the same: the building was not suitable for schooling of children." This was stated by the video appeal of the school parents to Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ramazan Abdulatipov, Acting President of Dagestan. The video appeal was posted on the "Youtube".
According to the information of the "Rospotrebnadzor" (Russia's Federal Agency for Consumer Supervision) for Dagestan dated August 30, eight schools are not allowed to work, while three other schools are prohibited to use some of their buildings. The inspection carried out by the "Rospotrebnadzor" has revealed that the conditions of Dagestani schools, particularly in rural areas, remain unsatisfactory.
