HRC "Memorial": eight criminal cases opened on Gimry events
After the check of the circumstances of the special operation in the village of Gimry, which was conducted after the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" had addressed the Prosecutor's Office, eight criminal cases were initiated, the human rights activists report.
In April this year, a special operation was undertaken in Gimry, during which several dwelling houses were blown up, in which, as law enforcers had asserted, they found improvised explosive devices (IEDs). According to Shamil Magomedov, the head of the Untsukul District, Gimry residents have filed 420 applications concerning the damage they had suffered during the operation. Villagers believe that militaries could just blow up the houses, which were looted by them or where the property was destroyed.
By its scale, the special operation in the village of Gimry resembled the cleansings of the Chechen War, says the message released by the HRC "Memorial", which arrived to the "Caucasian Knot".
On July 19, the investigation team of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for the Untsukul District opened eight criminal cases on the attributes of the offences falling under point "c", Part 2, Article 158 (theft), Part 1, Article 226 (theft or extortion of weapons, ammunition, explosives and explosive devices), Part 2, Article 325 (theft or damage of documents, stamps, seals or theft of excise stamps, special marks or conformity marks) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the HRC " Memorial" quotes the received answer of the Prosecutor's Office.
