In Yerevan, participant of sitting strike at Mayoralty beaten
At night of September 5, in Yerevan, Arman Aleksanyan, a participant of the indefinite picket held in front of the Mayoralty building, was hospitalized with injuries and brain concussion. The activist claims that he was beaten by a group of unidentified persons.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the indefinite strike in front of the Mayoralty building, organized by the participants of the initiative group "We will pay 100 drams", is going on starting from July 26. The protesters demand to dismiss Genrik Navasardyan, Chief of the Transport Department of the Mayoralty, and Misak Ambartsumyan, Director of the Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC) "Yerevantrans" in connection with the authorities' attempt to increase public transport fares.
At night of September 5, Arman Aleksanyan, a 22-year-old protestor, was brought to the hospital from Argishty Street. Doctors diagnosed him with brain concussion and injuries to his back and chest, the "ARMENIA Today" reports.
According to the activist's story, at about midnight, in Mashtots Avenue, he was attacked by a group of unidentified persons, and their number reached 10-15. Based on the testimony of Arman Aleksanyan, a forensic examination is to be carried out.
