Collective namaz in Pyatigorsk square cancelled
Muslims will not hold a collective namaz (prayer) in Pyatigorsk to protest against the authorities' attempts to demolish the mosque in Kislovodsk. This was announced by Muhammad Rakhimov, Mufti of the Stavropol Territory. The Muftiyate was offered land plots for the construction of a large mosque in the very city of Pyatigorsk. This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister of the Stavropol Territory.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 2, Muhammad Rakhimov, Mufti of the Stavropol Territory, called on Muslims to hold on September 20 a collective namaz against the demolition of two mosques in Kislovodsk located on the ground for the construction of residential buildings.
On September 3, a meeting was held between representatives of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) and the authorities of the Stavropol Territory. At the meeting, the Muftiyate was offered available land plots for the construction of Pyatigorsk mosque. This was reported by Ivan Kovalyov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Stavropol Territory.
Mufti Muhammad Rakhimov has announced that Muslims are offered to choose one of three land plots for the construction of the mosque. The Mufti has also acknowledged that he withdraws his appeal to hold a collective namaz, the GTRK (State TV and Radio Company) "Stavropolye" reports.
