In Dagestani village of Akhalchi ceiling of school gym collapsed; district authorities give no money for repairs
Residents of the village of Akhalchi of the Khunzakh District of Dagestan have appealed to the Dagestani authorities with the request to help repair the school gym. A month ago, the ceiling in the school gym collapsed. Officials from the district administration claim that the municipal budget is short of funds to allocate money for repairing the roof of the sports facility.
The ceiling in the school gym collapsed on July 25, during the school holidays. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by one of the villagers.
Khizri Guseinov, the head of the Akhalchi village administration, believes that the ceiling collapsed because of rotting beams. "To renovate the building, we will have to replace the whole roof. On August 11, we sent a letter to the Ministry of Sports for Dagestan with a request for help, and August 21, we sent one more letter with the results of the commission's work for examination the condition of the school gym. However, we have not received any response yet," said Khizri Guseinov.
According to the report of Zalumkhan Omarov, the head of the regional education department, the commission was established to assess the damage. "The commission has come to the conclusion that the roof replacement will cost about 4 million roubles. Given the funding, repairs will take no more than one month; however, the district budget is short of money," Zalumkhan Omarov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
