Members of Dagestani People's Assembly elect Ramazan Abdulatipov leader of Dagestan

Today, by a majority of vote, members of the People's Assembly of Dagestan have elected Ramazan Abdulatipov the leader of the republic.

The extraordinary session was attended by 88 out of 90 MPs. 86 MPs voted for Ramazan Abdulatipov, and 2 MPs voted for Ummupazil Omarova. Malik Bagliev gained no votes from MPs, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin presented to the Parliament of Dagestan candidacies of Ramazan Abdulatipov, Malik Bagliev, and Ummupazil Omarova, and the regional parliament was to empower one of the candidates with the power of the leader of the republic.
