Abkhazian oppositionists demand to find killers of Russian diplomat
The pro-governmental political party "Amtsakhara" and the Coordinating Council of Oppositional Political Parties and Public Organizations have demanded from the Abkhazian law enforcers to find those responsible for the murder of the Russian diplomat Dmitry Vishernyov committed in Sukhumi.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Vishernyov was shot dead in the morning on September 9 near his home. The secretary of the Russian Embassy received a shot in his head; his wife was wounded and underwent surgery at hospital.
The Political Council of the "Amtsakhara" (Ancestral Lights) has demanded from law enforcers of Abkhazia to take urgent actions to solve the murder of Dmitry Vishernyov; the Council treats the crime as a provocation aimed "to destabilize the situation in the republic on the eve of the twentieth anniversary of the victory in the Civil War and to hamper the successful development of the Russian-Abkhazian cooperation."
The above Coordinating Council has also highlighted its position in the letter addressed to Semyon Grigoriev, the Ambassador of Russia to Abkhazia, saying that "the criminals have delivered a severe blow to the most sensitive point of the fraternal relations of Abkhazia with the Great Russia."
Law enforcement bodies continue their operative and search activities.
In Abkhazia, Dmitry Vishernyov was in charge of such consular matters like citizenship and issuance of passports, the Radio Liberty reports.
