During the week of September 2-8 ten persons suffered in armed conflict in Northern Caucasus
In the period from September 2 to September 8, 2013, at least 10 persons fell victim to the armed conflict that is still on in Northern Caucasus; of them, eight persons were killed and two more were wounded. These are the results of the calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.
The death toll includes four law enforcers – all of them perished in Dagestan; and four suspected members of the armed underground – three in Kabardino-Balkaria and one in Dagestan.
On September 3, in the Dagestani capital Makhachkala, in the crossing of Yaragsky and Gagarin Streets, unidentified persons shelled a police unit. As a result, two policemen were killed; another one was wounded and died on the way to hospital: they were DPS (road and post service) inspectors Police Lieutenant Kurban Rabadanov, Senior Lieutenant Girai Giraev and Sergeant Saipula Saipulaev.
According to the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), the policemen were attacked by three militants of the "Makhachkala grouping": Makhmud Aliev, Ramil Suleimanov and Rustam Suleimanov.
On September 7 in Derbent, near the City Police Division, unidentified criminals blew up a car belonging to a policeman. As a result, the policeman, who was a member of a special combat force of the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) – an elite unit that conducts counterterrorist operations, was killed.
