The death toll includes four law enforcers – all of them perished in Dagestan; and four suspected members of the armed underground – three in Kabardino-Balkaria and one in Dagestan.

On September 3, in the Dagestani capital Makhachkala, in the crossing of Yaragsky and Gagarin Streets, unidentified persons shelled a police unit. As a result, two policemen were killed; another one was wounded and died on the way to hospital: they were DPS (road and post service) inspectors Police Lieutenant Kurban Rabadanov, Senior Lieutenant Girai Giraev and Sergeant Saipula Saipulaev.
