ECtHR notifies Russian authorities on impossibility to extradite Musaev, agent of NAR's MNS, to Azerbaijan
The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has notified Russian authorities that Ibragim Musaev, an Azerbaijan citizen and an employee of the Ministry of National Security (MNS) of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic (NAR), should not be extradited to Azerbaijan from Russia without further notice of the Court.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the decision to extradite Ibragim Musaev to Azerbaijan was announced on September 2 by the Yaroslavl Regional Court, which upheld the decision of the Russian General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) to extradite Musaev to Azerbaijan. Dmitry Sukhomlinov, Musaev's advocate, has filed a complaint against this decision with the Russia's Supreme Court.
The ECtHR has also noted that in the interests of the proper conduct of the proceedings, the Government of Azerbaijan should submit, before October 3, information about Musaev's position in the country, including a clarification of whether he had been an employee of the MNS of the NAR, or whether he had cooperated with MNS in any other form.
Let us remind you that a criminal case of fraud had been opened against Musaev in Azerbaijan. Ibragim Musaev asserts that he had been unreasonably put on the international wanted list by Azerbaijan.
