In Dagestan, more than 50 participants of protest action in Makhachkala detained
Today, the police detained more than 50 participants of the unsanctioned rally, which took place near the Prosecutor's Office of the Lenin District of Makhachkala. The people were protesting against the unlawful, in their opinion, detention of Malik Kambulatov, a resident of the village of Agachaul of the Karabudakhkent District of Dagestan.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by the protesters that Malik Kambulatov was detained on September 11 on suspicion of illegal possession and acquisition of firearms. However, relatives of Malik Kambulatov treat his detention as unlawful.
The rally was attended by about 300 persons. During the protest action, policemen forced into a car a young man standing with a poster reading: "We are tired of tyranny of law enforcement bodies." When the protesters tried to prevent his detention, the policemen started to push apart the people and beat everyone, including women and schoolchildren. This was stated by a participant of the rally.
Djuvariyat Kambulatova, the mother of the detainee, has claimed that the police persecute her son Malik, since policemen believe his younger brother Arslanali is a member of the armed underground.
In turn, a representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for Dagestan denied the information that the weapon was planted to the detainee by the policemen. And, according to the MIA's information, Arslanali Kambulatov is the leader of the Makhachkala sabotage and terrorist grouping.
More than 100 residents of the village of Agachaul have signed an appeal to Ramazan Abdulatipov, the leader of Dagestan, asking to carry out the investigation into the Malik Kambulatov's case.
