In Khosta District of Sochi, street residents accuse builders of Olympic facilities of flooding their houses
After the construction of the Olympic venues, rainfalls began inflicting much more serious damage. This is stated by residents of the houses located in 20th Mountain Division Street in Sochi and entrepreneurs whose business facilities are located there. Representatives of the company that conducted the construction in the street state the problem is caused by rampant disaster.
On September 6, in 20th Mountain Division Street in the Khosta District of Sochi, rainfalls flooded residential and non-residential buildings. The residents of the houses located in the street state that prior to the preparation for the Olympics, similar rainfalls never inflicted much damage and that serious problems began after the construction of the Olympic facility the transport interchange at the intersection of Kurortny Avenue and 20th Mountain Division (highway M-27 Dzhubga-Sochi) was completed in 2012.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that earlier, Sochi residents expressed the opinion that the construction of collectors for the Bzugu River would lead to flooding.
It turned out that the problem of drainage waters also exists in the place of the construction of road and tunnel at the intersection of Transportnaya and Krasnoselskaya Streets. Local residents state that developers of the Olympic facilities also failed to build drainage systems and storm water drainage for water removal from the road.
The road construction company that carried out works in the streets and the administration of Sochi treat the claims of the city residents as groundless.
Evgeny Gorlov, Deputy City Mayor, has emphasized that the flooding could be caused by the city residents themselves. In his opinion, they should clean water drain ditches by themselves and maintain order in the territories of their households.
