In Armenia, 40 persons attend protest action demanding to release ANC's activist Tigran Arakelyan
In Yerevan, one more protest action was held in front of the General Prosecutor's Office. Participants of the protest action demanded to acquit Tigran Arakelyan, Artak Karapetyan, David Kiramidjyan, and Sargis Gevorgyan, four young opposition activists, accused of disorderly conduct.
Let us remind you that on July 20, 2012, activists of the "Armenian National Congress" (ANC) were sentenced to two-six years of imprisonment. The court found them guilty of disorderly conduct and disobeying policemen during the conflict that occurred in Yerevan on August 9, 2011.
Levon Zurabyan, Vice Chairman of the ANC, sent his personal guarantee to Eva Darbinyan, Judge of the Court of Appeal chairing the trial on the case. The letter with a request to change the restriction measure to Tigran Arakelyan kept in custody emphasizes that, pursuant to Article 145 and Paragraph 1 of Article 134 of the Criminal Code, Levon Zurabyan guarantees by his word and required bail that Tigran Arakelyan will come to the trial at the first request.
