Azamat Archakov, hunger-striker from Ingushetia, announces termination of his protest action
Today, Azamat Archakov, a resident of the village of Ali-Yurt in Ingushetia, the father of the family with many children, has declared that he had stopped his hunger strike. On September 3, he started his action, demanding to provide housing for his family.
Having decided on a desperate move, he hoped to draw the attention of officials to the problems of his family, and, according to his story, he succeeded. "During recent days, a lot of people visited the place. I was promised assistance: in particular, Isropil Latyrov, the head of the administration of the Nazran District gave his word. And he kept his word. The works on the land plot allocated to me several years ago are carried out during two days already," Azamat Archakov says.
He notes that he is going to take an active part in building of a house for his family. Meanwhile, Azamat Archakov rejects the information about his relations with the local opposition disseminated on the Internet.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that when going on hunger strike, Azamat Archakov announced that it will be of unlimited duration. On September 4, the next day after the beginning of the Azamat Archakov's protest action, Mukharbek Didigov, Speaker of the Parliament of Ingushetia, promised him to resolve his housing problem.
