Sentencing in case against ex-Deputy Mayor of Novocherkassk scheduled for September 23
On September 23, the verdict in the case against Vladislav Zhuravlyov, ex-Deputy Mayor of Novocherkassk, accused "of inciting hatred and hostility", is to be pronounced. At the court session held on September 17, the court listened to the final speech of the defendant.
Vladislav Zhuravlyov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that about 70 persons attended the court session to support him.
"In my speech that lasted more than an hour, I have described in details the most important circumstances of my case, and I have brought together the most striking examples of falsification of the charge against me," Vladislav Zhuravlyov has stated. He has added that in his final speech, he said that he failed to understand of what exactly he was accused.
"The vast majority of witnesses supported the position of the defence, that is, they denied the acts imputed to me and witnessed numerous facts of falsification of charges against me. The remaining negligible minority of witnesses who allegedly proved my guilt was a narrow group of individuals seeking to save their faces and avoid responsibility for knowingly false denunciation," said the defendant in his final speech.
