Dagestan starts trying participants of "Kizlyar wedding"
The Kizlyar City Court has begun the trial on the conflict that happened in April between the police and members of a wedding convoy.
Let us remind you that on April 27 in Kizlyar, law enforcers stopped a wedding cortege with Islamic flags. Eyewitnesses then reported that the participants of the wedding ceremony were beaten, while the Ministry of Internal Affairs issued a statement about a detention of members of an extremist organization.
Four people, including Magomed Kartashov, the chairman of the public organization named "Union of the Just", are accused of using violence against power agents.
The today's court session questioned the prosecution witnesses – the policemen, who confirmed their testimonies given during at the preliminary investigation.
As supposed by Mukhamad Magomedov, a deputy head of the "Union of the Just", in his interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, the murder of the religious and social figure Abdula Gappaev may have links with the trial of Kartashov.
"Gappaev was also present at the wedding; and he was an eyewitness of the events. A week before his death, he said that he had very strong evidence of the innocence of the participants of the wedding ceremony," said Magomedov.
The next court session on the case of the "Kizlyar wedding" is scheduled for October 8.
