Chetverikova: three convicted activists Gelendzhik HRC convoyed to colonies
Three out of four convicted activists of the Gelendzhik Human Rights Centre (HRC) have been sent to the colonies, where they will serve their prison terms, said their colleague Svetlana Chetverikova. According to her story, one of them was convoyed to the Saratov Region.
Let us remind you that on April 30, 2013, Vladimir Ivanov, the head of the above HRC; Zufar Achilov, a member of the board of the HRC; an activist Gagik Avanesyan and Valery Semergey, the editor-in-chief of the newspaper "I have the Right To", were convicted on charges of extortion to prison terms from 8 to 13 years in a high security colony.
Svetlana Chetverikova, also a member of the HRC, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the convicts' relatives and friends were surprised that some of them were sent to serve their sentences to other regions of Russia. "They are all convicted for the first time; therefore, they should have been left to serve their terms within the Krasnodar Territory.
The defence of the convicted activists has reported about preparing a cassation complaint against the decision of the Court of Appeal and the judgment of the first instance.
